Mongolia, committed to human rights, gender equality, and justice, will host the World Women’s Forum on August 22-23, 2024, in Ulaanbaatar, under the auspices of President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa. This event marks the 100th anniversary of the Mongolian Women’s Federation and aims to advance dialogue on women's empowerment, gender equality, climate change, and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Despite the Beijing Declaration's adoption nearly 30 years ago, progress on gender equality remains insufficient. Challenges include women’s participation in decision-making, employment, and economic capabilities. The Forum underscores that women’s leadership is crucial in addressing global issues like climate change and poverty.
Participants will include global women leaders across various sectors. The Forum will feature an opening session, plenary meeting, closing session, and six thematic sessions: - Women Leaders Accelerating Environmental Action: Addressing the intersection of gender inequality and climate change.
- Sustainable Future: Role of Women in Shaping Food Systems: Empowering women in food systems to achieve SDGs.
- Towards Gender Equal Economies: Examining fiscal policies and their role in achieving gender equality.
- The Importance of Education: Empowering women and girls through education, particularly in STEM.
- Gender Equality in Sports, Arts, and Culture: Promoting inclusion and addressing gender-based challenges in these fields.
- Women in the Digital Economy: Enhancing women’s economic participation, particularly in Mongolia.
The Forum will conclude with recommendations from these sessions, aiming to build momentum towards the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration.
