Emmanuel Macron Completes State Visit to Mongolia
President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron has completed the State Visit to Mongolia. Within the framework of the visit, the Presidents of Mongolia and France held official talks, and Mongolia and the Republic of France issued a Joint Declaration.

Prime Minister of Mongolia Luvsandorj Oyun-Erdene paid a courtesy call on President of France Emmanuel Macron, and the Distinguished Guest concluded the State Visit by getting acquainted with the Chinggis Khaan Museum.

Though short, this visit of the French President Emmanuel Macron is of special significance for the relations between the two countries. It was the first historic visit of the head of state of France to Mongolia.

Registration for UB Marathon 2023 international marathon begins
Since 2014, the “UB Marathon” international marathon has been organized to develop running sports in Mongolia, increase the number of people interested in running, and engrain physical and mental breeding in the young generation.


This year, the marathon will be held as a day by the Governor’s Office of the capital city, Ulaanbaatar Physical Education and Sports Department, “High Payment Solutions” LLC (Hipay), and the Mongolian Athletics Association on June 3 at the Sukhbaatar Square. As in previous years, the marathon has 1,500 meters, 5,000 meters, 10 kilometers, 21 kilometers and 42 kilometers running categories. Specifically, the 1,500-meter run includes a run for families and disabled people. Full marathon or 42 kilometers is for participants over 18 years old, half marathon or 21 kilometers is for participants aged 18 to 34, 35 to 54, and over 55 years old, health run or 10 kilometers, 5,000 meters are for 12 to 17 and over 18 years old participants.


The online registration of the “UB Marathon 2023” international marathon will be carried out on the website http://ubmarathon.hipay.mn and the hipay application until 5:00 p.m. on May 30. Also, the physical education and sports committees of the nine districts of the capital will be responsible for the certification of the participants and the issuing of badges for the five-kilometer distance of the marathon. But for 42, 21 and 10 kilometer distances, the registration of participants and the issuing of badges, chips, and T-shirts are being organized at the Physical Education and Sports of the Department. In addition, children and families who want to participate in the marathon on Children’s Day will be registered for free.


The organizers said that they plan to create conditions for people to show their children the benefits of playing sports, run together and spend a day full of memories. Moreover, attention on landscaping along the running route will be paid, road and kilometer markings, water distribution points of volunteers, and photoshoot spot will be established at the finish line.

Foreign Currency Savings Decreased by MNT 616 Billion
At the end of April of this year, the bank savings in national currency amounted MNT 13.5 trillion, making an increase of MNT 424.8 billion (3.2 percent) from the previous month, and a decrease of MNT 206.1 billion (1.5 percent) compared to the same period of the previous year.

MNT 12 trillion (88.9 percent) of savings belongs to citizens, and MNT 1.5 trillion (11.1 percent) belongs to enterprises and organizations.

The National Statistics Committee reported that foreign currency savings reached MNT 5.3 trillion, decreasing by MNT 616.5 (10.4 percent) billion from the previous month, and increasing by MNT 976.5 billion (22.4 percent) compared to the same period of the last year.

Foreign Minister Meets Her Saudi Counterpart
Within the framework of the Official Visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Minister of Foreign Affairs B. Battsetseg held a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs, HH Prince of Saudi Arabia Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud on May 25.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged in-depth views on bilateral relations and cooperation. On the sideline of the meeting, the Ministries signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation and Political Consultative Meeting between Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia and agreed to organize the first Political Consultative Meeting in near future.
Minister B. Battsetseg noted that within the framework of the foreign policy that Mongolia is developing with Gulf countries, there are wide opportunities to develop mutually beneficial cooperation with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in coordination with the development policies of the two countries.
In this context, she expressed interest in attracting investments from Saudi Arabia in the mining, energy, and agriculture sectors, initiating the export of meat and meat products from Mongolia, and mutually supporting tourism and student exchange. Meanwhile, the Minister proposed to jointly implement projects and programs within the framework of green development.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs HH Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, emphasized the importance of actively developing friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries in the aforementioned fields. He expressed his delight that this Official Visit marks the beginning of further cooperation between the two foreign ministries.

"If only I could hibernate" became the first Mongolian film to be nominated for Un Certain Regard.
The 76th annual Cannes Film Festival is taking place from 16 to 27 May 2023.

"If Only I Could Hibernate" became the first Mongolian film to be nominated for Un Certain Regard at the Cannes Film Festival. It became the first Mongolian film to be nominated for Un Certain Regard at the Cannes Film Festival. The film crew walked the red carpet of the festival and presented their work.

This poignant drama tells the story of Ulzii, a teenager determined to win a science competition to get a scholarship.

Ulzii lives in a poor neighborhood in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. His illiterate mother finds a job in the countryside and abandons him and his brother and sister, despite the harsh winter. Torn between the need to take care of his siblings and his desire to study for the competition, Ulzii has no choice but to put himself in danger to provide for his family.

The film is directed and written by Zoljargal Purevdash and stars Nominjiguur Tsend, Battsooj Uurtsaikh and Tuguldur Batsaikhan. The selection ofUn Certain Regard is an important recognition for this first film, testifying to the quality of the work and the talent of the director.
